Monastery Marienhöh

Room from the category "noble abbey" with loggia

"You want to drive 600 kilometers to relax for two days?" My husband was not very enthusiastic when I told him about my idea to take a "short trip" from Hamburg to Langweiler.

Luckily he let himself be persuaded: The monastery hotel is located on a hill in a village of 100 souls above the village church, with a wonderful view of a small lake and the surrounding woods. The interior is modern, yet the monastery is omnipresent: the wellness area is called "Kleine Klostertherme", the toilets are "for nuns" and "for monks", the rooms are in the categories "Apostel" and "Missionarshaus" and " Noble Abbey ". Whereby the equipment in all rooms is identical, over the category decides alone the room size. Near the main building, eight family rooms have been set up in the so-called "pilgrim's house", which can be connected by means of intermediate doors.

The pool in the "Klostertherme"

Also "Klostertherme" and "Heiliggeist-Spa" wiggles tradition and modernity skillfully. I treat myself to a stamp massage with grapeseed oil: The stamps are heated in warm grapeseed oil and pressed with pleasant pressure on the skin. The combination of heat, herbs and massage to solve deep muscle tension. It's true, I feel completely relaxed after 60 minutes.

In the restaurant "refectory"

In the evening we eat by candlelight in the hotel's restaurant "refectory". The daily changing menu sounds good, my husband tastes the teriyaki duck, the green asparagus excellent - but especially this gorgeous rhubarb froth with a fan of white and dark chocolate on top. After the meal we sit comfortably on the balcony of our room and enjoy the forest view.

"I would like to stay," says my husband as we pack our bags on Sunday. In any case, we will return to the Monastery Marienhöh Hideway & Spa, because even if the trip from Hamburg to Langweiler is not the shortest, it's worth it anyway.
