Men's Strip: Guys, let the pants off!
For the greasy strip club owner Dallas (Matthew McConaughey, pictured), "Magic Mike" (Channing Tatum) is a godsend. But actually someone dreams a completely different dream.
I have nothing against half-naked men. On the contrary, I like to watch them: on television at the Olympics, on H & M posters, in films with Ewan McGregor or privately in my bedroom. But a man undressing in front of me, dancing? It irritates my laughing muscles, nothing else.
I speak from experience: As a highlight of a hen party, I spent an evening in a Hamburg strip club. The bride was allowed to choose between seven different models with a bare upper body, but that was as erotic as a purchase decision at the cheese counter. Barely ten minutes later a tattoos plastered, oily glittering gentleman on our table. Even in the handstand he encouraged us to put paper money in the waistband of his pants, in the end he wore only sneakers and a blanket in front of the real thing. The whole spectacle did not put anyone in ecstasy. And I was very uncomfortable.
The idea of buying eroticism as a service, I find strange. Of course, one could celebrate the men's strip as a triumphal procession of emancipation: If men pay women to undress, why should not we enjoy that pleasure? I do not want to stop anyone from screeching in a strip show with a bunch of female friends screaming. However, I doubt that it will be particularly enjoyable.
In addition I have a theory: The lightly clad male body is made for wood chopping, surfing or my badminton playing a good figure, but not when dancing to titles such as "You Can Leave Your Hat On". This looks cute (remember the English movie "Not at all"?) Or prudish (the Chippendales), but never sexy.
I'll probably still watch the movie "Magic Mike" anyway. After all, directed by Steven Soderbergh and if no undresses, the story should be really good. But I'm still struggling with guys stripping - even if they look like Matthew McConaughey. What do you think of men's strips? Vote.
