This woman is fighting for her dreams
Mélanie Ségard (21) has trisomy 21 and knows exactly what she wants: to moderate the weather. The Frenchwoman reported on her wish in a self-made clip on Facebook and invited her readers to make a like with their hashtag #melaniepeutlefaire ("Mélanie can do it").
Within a week she gathered more than 200,000 fans - and also got a like of the station "France 2".
Mélanie presented the weather in prime time
The TV station fulfilled her dream and invited her to present the weekend weather at prime time on prime time news. Since Mélanie Ségard can neither read nor write, she memorized her text - and did a great job.
Only the looks of the other make her bother
Since she is now a little celebrity in France, she was also invited to a talk show. There she talked about what it's like to be handicapped. It's not the down syndrome that sets her up, but the eyes of others on people like her. On the street she is often patterned from top to bottom. "This annoys me and happens far too often", she said.
