Make cleaning agents yourself - how it works!

Make cleaning agent yourself

  • soda: Soda is a helpful home remedy and is suitable as a cleanser in the kitchen and bathroom. Soda, soda, citric acid and core soap together are all-purpose cleaners for a variety of surfaces. Soda powder also helps with the drain cleaning. Look here: drain clogged.
  • Vinegar or Essigessenz: A 1: 1 vinegar-water solution is suitable as lime remover or glass cleaner. If you do not like the smell of vinegar, you can add an essential oil. A homemade vinegar cleaner can do more. He helps clean the window and decalcify the kettle and can be used as an oven cleaner. Look here: cleaning the oven.
  • citric acid: A home-made citrus cleaner not only smells good, but is also a true all-purpose cleaner and limescale remover. Simply mix 2 to 3 tablespoons of citric acid with water and pour into an empty detergent bottle. Citric acid helps to clean the ceramic hob, cleaning the baking tray, but also against stains. Look here: remove red wine stains.
  • Curd soap: We can also make liquid hand soap ourselves. For this we need 50 g of soap and one liter of water (and optionally honey). Finely grate the soap and place in a pot of water and bring to a boil. Do not forget to stir. Let it cool down. Add honey and mix everything with a blender. Kernseife can also be used as a bathroom cleaner. For example, when cleaning tiles.

You do not necessarily have to spend a lot of money on this and that special product: we can easily produce environmentally friendly cleaning aids from just a few natural products. But beware: Do not mix with conventional cleaners, this can lead to dangerous chemical reactions!

Clean silver

Many swear by the fast method with aluminum foil, salt and boiling water. But that also has disadvantages: The silver shines at some point no longer, knife blades tend increasingly rusting. Better: make a paste of 1 tbsp chalk and 3 tbsp alcohol and apply with a soft cloth in a circular motion and allow to dry. Polish with a cloth and rinse with hot water.

Clean the crystal

Blunt crystal glasses? Pour into each of about 1 tbsp crushed eggshells, fill with the juice of one lemon and about half a glass of vinegar essence and leave to work overnight. Windows and mirrors are cleaned with water and vinegar streak-free: fill in equal amounts in a spray bottle, spray on and polish with newsprint.

Clean pots

Stainless steel, enamel or ceramic: All pots (especially their bottoms!) Need an abrasion from time to time. A paste made from core soap flakes (approx. 1/2 glass), edible oil (6 tablespoons), glycerin (3 tablespoons), soda (2 tablespoons) and whiting (1 glass) has proved its worth. Heat soap and oil in a saucepan on a low level, remove from the plate and gradually mix in the remaining ingredients. Put the mass in a mason jar and let it set for 3-4 days. Soak in dampened steel wool or a scouring pad and work the pots with it. Poured pots are filled in equal parts with water and vinegar essence, allowed to boil the mixture and then act overnight.

Clean knife

On knife blades sometimes ugly black spots that can not be removed quite arise. The magic remedy: a mix of cooking oil and wood ash, which is massaged with a rag. When grated, take half an onion to rub.

Aromatherapy against moths

These DIY fragrance bags only drive the animals - not the fellow humans: 5 cloves, 2 cinnamon sticks, 2 vanilla sticks, 1 teaspoon grated nutmeg, peel of 2 lemons and oranges and 1 handful of rosemary needles in a mortar, a few drops of aromatic oil (eg Bitter orange or lemon), pour into cloth bags and distribute in the cupboard.
