Knit traditional jacket - a guide
Instructions for a traditional jacket in size S / M / L
Material: 650/750/850 g Fb 0078 "Merino 70" (98% Merino, 2% Polyester, LL 70 m / 50 g) by Lang Yarns, knitting needles No. 5 and 5.5, one braid needle, 6 buttons (Art.- No. H985-40, www.knopf-shop.com)
Note: It is possible that the given wool can not be bought anymore. In this case, you are looking for a similar quality. Please note the specified run length and do a stitch test!
Federal pattern (BM): With needle no. 5 1 st right, 1 st. Left alternating.
Cable pattern (ZM) repeat over 10 M: With the needle no. 5.5.
1st row (front): 2 sts left, 2 sts right, 2 sts left, 4 sts right.
2nd row: 1 sts left, 2 sts right, 1 sts left, 2 right, 2 sts left, 2 sts right.
3rd row: 2 sts left, put 1 st on a braid needle behind the work, knit the following sts on the right, knit the sts of the pigtail needle on the right, 2 sts left, 4 sts right. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows in height and repeat in width.
Knitting tension: Knitted in the ZM, 16 M x 22 R = 10 x 10 cm
Back: Cast on 70/76/82 sts and work 4 cm in BM. Continue as follows: 2 sts right, 66 sts in center, 2 sts right / 76 sts in center / 3 sts right, 76 sts in center, 3 sts right. For armholes 30/28/26 cm from BM on both sides cast off 4 x 1 st in every other row = 62/68/74 sts. For neckline at an armhole height of 19/21/23 cm bind off the middle 20 sts Bind off on both sides 3 sts 1 time in each row and at the same time for shoulders: at armhole height of 19/21/23 cm every other row bind off 3 x 6/3 x 7/3 x 8 sts.
Left front: Cast on 32/36/38 sts and work 4 cm in BM. Continue as follows: 3 sts right, 26 sts in center, 3 sts right / 36 sts in center / 1 st on left, 36 sts on center, 1 st on left. Knit the armholes at the right edge as in the back piece = 28/32/34 sts. For the neckline at the left edge bind off 45 cm from BM in every other row 4 times 2 and 2/3/2 times 1 st. The shoulder as in the back oblique.
Right front: Knit the same way as the left front piece.
Sleeve: Cast on 32/38/46 sts each and knit 4 cm in BM. Continue as follows: 3 sts right, 26 sts in center, 3 sts right / 1 st in left, 36 sts in center, 1 st in left / 46 sts in center. Incline 12 x 1 sts on both sides every 3 cm = 56/62/70 sts. 42/40/38 cm from BM for the ball on each side cast off one st in each row until the ball height is 10/12/14 cm. Cast off the remaining approx. 10 sts.
elaboration: Close the shoulder, side and sleeve seams. Pick up 67 sts at the neckline (18 sts each on the front and 31 sts on the back) and 3 cm on the BM. Pick up 84 sts for the left panel and knit 3 cm in the BM. Knit the right panel with 6 button holes, knit 4 sts at the front for 1.5 cm, cast off * 2 sts, knit 13 sts, repeat from * 4 times, bind off 2 sts, knit 3 sts. Repeat 2 sts for each buttonhole in the following row. Sew on the buttons and sew in the sleeves.
