Jimmy Carter: Former US president breaks his hip at fall

Former US President Jimmy Carter (94) broke his hip in a fall. As the Carter Center announced on Monday, Carter was on his way to a turkey hunt when he crashed at his home in Plains, Georgia. He had to undergo surgery and is currently recovering from the procedure, which according to the surgeon is said to have been successful.

He sets priorities

Carter's main concern, however, is not his quick recovery, but the imminent end of the turkey hunting season, the report says. Since the ex-president has not yet met his shooting rate, he hopes that he can catch up on the unused kills in the next season. For this, however, he requires a permit from the state of Georgia.

Carter succeeded in 1976 as the 39th US President to succeed President Gerald Ford (1913-2006). Four years later he lost the election against Ronald Reagan (1911-2004).
