Insterburg belonged to the most well-known musicians of Germany. In 1967 he founded the Komikerband Insterburg & Co. with Karl Dall, Jürgen Barz and Peter Ehlebracht. The original cast existed until 1979. One of her best known works was the song "I loved a girl". The troupe was also considered a trailblazer for comedy stars like Otto Waalkes (70).

In 1994, the group was officially dissolved and Insterburg began solo on. Among his very special skills was the invention of bizarre instruments such as the beer flute or bass broom.
