Hamburg, Berlin & Co with children: Is life in the big city really good?

Those who live in the big city but come from the countryside know both worlds: the hectic pace of big city life, but also the many opportunities for families that can offer cities like Hamburg, Berlin or Munich. But also the calm and light-heartedness in the village, but also the boredom and simplicity that sometimes make you despair. As a pregnant or mother, one often asks oneself what the best environment for one's own children might be. Are you staying in the big city? Do you prefer to move out?

Rural life for children better?

As a pregnant woman or a mother, one often asks oneself what the best environment for children might be and tends quickly to the country: fewer dangers, the connection with nature, the restriction to the essentials and the pure idyll. Watching bees, fishing in the stream, just walking to school and meeting his friends? and those who have always been and who remain forever. One imagines that it simply has to be nicer for children there. Who wants to constantly think about the many strange people in the big city, daily traffic chaos, non-binding, overcrowded playgrounds and the lack of day-care places? Studies also give country advocates a good feeling: children who grow up in small towns or in the countryside are supposed to become more self-sufficient faster. They rather get away from home, their parents trust them more? they try more. And of course, parents who are relaxed and have more time, have a positive impact on the development of their children? Parents in big cities are often more professionally employed.

Big city with children: more creative freedom?

Looking closer at the studies, however, these aspects are not enough for a clear pro for the village life. On the one hand, children see nature quite differently than we adults: nothing with idyll or rest and relaxation. It is a living space for them, which they shape themselves with their discoveries and actions. There are numerous replacements in the city: play groups, park or zoo visits, even your own home, sports clubs, the playground in front of the door? and above all, there are many children of the same age with whom they come in contact on a daily basis. And they especially need children for their personal happiness and their development. For example, children in the city are often much more advanced in language development, and their social skills are more and more pronounced than those of children growing up in rural areas. It therefore makes no difference whether they live in a house on the edge of the field or in a Hamburg apartment. They look for their creative spaces in which they can discover, try out a lot and learn.

City or country? Parents find the best for their children

Ultimately, it is a very individual decision of the parents, where they want to create the perfect living space for themselves and their children. It is important that they try to see the environment out of children's eyes and to take their time regularly. Is there enough room for the children? Do you try a lot? Do you have enough peers around you? Then nothing stands in the way of a happy childhood? no matter if in the big city or country life.
