Emergency call published: Should Demi Lovato's overdose be covered up?

Singer Demi Lovato (25, "Sober") is still in the hospital, where she is treated after her overdose earlier this week. Now, US media has released the distress call that was dropped out of their house that night. Should their relapse into old habits be covered up?

"Please no sirens"

The recording shows how a man in the emergency call center goes through the further procedure with the female person at the other end of the line. "Are you currently with the patient?" he asks. "I was, I'm down now, other people are with her," the woman answers. When asked how old the person is, she says, "We just have to get someone here." The voice of the woman sounds calm and composed.

The man in the emergency call center also explains that it is helpful for the plumbing, if they can be told on site, which medicines the patient has taken. He also instructs the woman that pets should better be moved to another room. He promises to stay on the phone until the emergency response team is on site.

When he says "You should hear the sirens soon", the woman becomes suspicious and says: "Wait a minute, please no sirens, right?" But he just replies: "No, no, this is a medical emergency, I have no control over it ... I'm sorry!" The woman apparently understood that it would be enough to wait in front of the house to wave the ambulance. "This is definitely a medical emergency and we need to get there as soon as possible," adds the man.

Finally, another male voice is heard: "We have heard the sirens". The driveway is winding, it goes on. A short time later, the paramedics are in the house.

Details remain unclear

It is still unclear what led to the overdose of Demi Lovato. Unspecified sources surrounding the singer have contradicted reports that it was heroin. Also rumors about the drug Crystal Meth are buzzing through the net. Lovato had spoken openly in the past about her alcohol and drug problems. Only in June she confessed in her song "Sober" that she had suffered a relapse after six abstinent years.
