Egypt: Why Mursi had to leave

"Get lost!" Millions of Egyptians had called President Mursi. Since June 30, the first anniversary of Mursi's inauguration, mass protests in major cities have escalated. Now the generals have deposed Mursi and put him under house arrest. Adli Mansur, Supreme Judge of the Constitutional Court, was appointed as acting head of state.

Cairo Egyptologist Abier El Shazly, who has demonstrated against Mubarak, talks about why she also took to the streets against President Mursi - and why she hopes the protests will be happier this time around.

We call him the big sheep

"In the elections, we were forced to choose between plague and cholera, between Mursi and Mubarak's people, we hate Mursi because he split the country into secular and Muslim Brothers, he made the mistake of bringing religion into play, not Morsi Mursi did not shy away from breaking the law in her favor, so he lost our respect, we call him the big sheep.

The living conditions of the Egyptians have become increasingly worse during his tenure: There is little gasoline, everything has become more expensive, the garbage remains. Mursi has released terrorists from prison and jailed activists of the Arab Spring. He has publicly called for the killing of oppositionists. He also maintains close ties with Hamas. He is a liar, his time was up.

We want to shape our future without the Muslim Brothers, even though we have to work very hard for Egypt to recover.

It is impossible to know what the future will bring, as we have learned in the past two years. But I hope that we are now seeing a turning point in the history of Egypt. Everything is different this time: Police and military are on our side. I'm so happy! "
