DIY: Karges student room becomes palace - for only 400 euros!

DIY is not only trendy since Instagram - and unstoppable! Everywhere now tables, benches and beds are made of Euro pallets, sewn mobile phone bags themselves, knitted sweaters and scarves and marmalade or liqueur made in grandma's recipe itself. The students in this video push it to the extreme and have spiced up their room in the video? with little money, a little time and lots of creativity. The result is impressive, as you can see!

"Furniture hacking" made easy

Since Ikea exists, we are used to building our own furniture. And we are proud of Oskar, if we can do it. However, that's no longer enough for many creators: Then the shelf becomes a shelf and a sewer pipe becomes a mailbox. And the DIY industry is developing well: According to the Institute for Trade Research in Cologne, in 2015 the Germans spent on average 2,818 euros for their DIY equipment, such as paint, screws, plants and the like.

DIY: A trend, not only at universities

Why students in particular often prefer to make furniture and clothes instead of buying, certainly has financial reasons. But the sustainability aspect in the DIY trend should play a major role as well, because even the so-called "upcycling", ie the creative enhancement of worn, broken or only old objects, is very much in vogue. Especially when you are working together. And so there are repair cafes and events where people simply repair or beautify things together. Added value: Not only is it possible to create new (and beautiful at best) things, but it also makes new contacts and gets to know people with whom you have a lot in common - and can also tackle new, creative projects in the future.
