Core cherries: With these tricks working? S

1. Core the cherries with a chopstick

For the first lifehack you need a stick and an empty bottle. The stick should be as blunt as possible, for example, chopsticks are very good. Alternatively, you can use a straw. The bottle opening must be smaller than the cherry, so that it does not slip.

Place the cherry on the neck of the bottle so that the stalk hangs in the bottle. Then you stick with the stick into the cherry from above and push the core down until it falls into the bottle.

2. Cherries core with a hairpin

Another trick that you can use to chop cherries without scorers works with a hairpin and a cork that acts as a handle. The needle must be slightly U-shaped. Put the ends in the cork, then slide the hairpin under the cherry stone and lift it out of the fruit.

Alternatively, you can use a paper clip that you bend. The advantage over the chopsticks method is that less juice is injected from the cherry.

3. Core the cherries with a paring knife

Of course, you can also core cherries with a kitchen knife. Make sure that the knife has a sharp point, with which you cut into the fruit. To prevent the cherries becoming soggy, the incision should be as small as possible. Incidentally, this way you can also quickly see if the fruits have been attacked by maggots or worms.

4. Core the cherries with the Thermomix

With the Thermomix it is also possible to stone cherries within a few seconds. However, the food processor has one drawback: the fruits are severely damaged and partially smashed, so that they are no longer suitable for decorating.

But if you only want to cook the cherries anyway and use them as a cake topping for a delicious cherry cake, for example, this method is very efficient. Set the Thermomix to a maximum of 4, so that the cores are not shredded.
