The three largest German providers helping find friends are Stayfriends.de, Passado.de and 7people.de. The principle is the same for all three portals: You sign up for free and then look for other school friends among the other registered users. Only if you want to contact another member, the service will be charged.

Stayfriends.de is the largest school friends search engine in the German-speaking Internet. In just three years, nearly 2.7 million members of 75,000 schools registered here. The site sees itself as a pure network for former school friends, additional service such as partner or job search does not exist here. To register, you only need to provide your name, e-mail address, school name and year of graduation. The pages are clearly structured, which allows the searcher to quickly reach his goal, ie to the graduating classes of his school. A "gold membership" is the prerequisite to be able to actually contact former classmates. It costs 18 euros a year.
Passado.de
Also Passado.de was founded as a search engine for old friends. Meanwhile, one can flirt here, give up sales ads or make business contacts. Four million members from all over Europe are registered with Passado. The site requires a lot of personal information such as date of birth, hobbies, occupation, etc. If your information is sacred to you, it is better to use another service. The search for school friends is a bit more complicated here: you have to enter your school in the "People search" section. However, if the school has a common name, such as Goethe Gymnasium, then you may have to sift through over 200 search results. The detailed search as well as the contact to members counts to the special achievements, which you may use only over a "platinum membership". The annual fee is 60 euros a year.

The operators of 7people.de went the other way: Previously, the portal was a pure flirting page, but now there is also a search service for school friends. 570 00 users are registered at 7people.de. To sign up, you need to enter your name, email address, birth date and zip code. If you are only interested in school friends, it is sufficient if you also give the name of your school and the city. The search for classmates is easy and self-explanatory here, however, the yield is quite meager due to the low number of members. If you find a friend from the past and want to contact him, you need to become a "Premium Member". A monthly membership costs 19.95 euros, four months cost 39.90 euros.
