Summer is finally here! And with him the delicious cherries! Feed yourself with the dark vitamin bombs and pick up the seeds, then you have the most important ingredient for our new do-it-yourself maker. And if you get stomach-sick from the many cherries or are completely tense from picking, the cute frog with its warm embrace will help you recover.

You need this:

  • about 500 g of cherry pits
  • 50 cm x 100 cm firmer fabric (eg green cord)
  • 50 cm x 100 cm lighter cotton fabric (preferably beautifully patterned)
  • approx. 20 cm Velcro fastener (available in haberdashery stores)
  • a pair of animal eyes, small buttons or a bit of embroidery thread
  • fiberfill
  • scissors
  • sewing machine
  • Iron and ironing board
  • pins
  • needle and thread
  • Paper and pencil

Here we go:

1. Make a template for the body of the frog. You can be happy with the given drawing or develop your own design. It is important that the lower part of the frog (where the hind legs are sewn later) is straight.

2. For the hands and feet, paint a frog-like hand template.

step 3

3. Iron all fabrics and attach the stencils with pins. You need:

  • 1x frog body top (solid fabric)
  • 1x frog body bottom (cotton fabric) Part 1 (marked yellow in the drawing) plus 4 cm extra for the hem
  • 1x frog body bottom (cotton fabric) part 2 (marked green in the drawing) plus 4 cm extra for the hem
  • 2x front and back of the front legs
  • 2x front and back of the hind legs
  • 4x front and back of the hand

Cut out all parts with 1 cm seam allowance!

Step 4

4. Sew on the cotton side of the feet 5 to 7 cm from the rough side of the Velcro, put the "nice" sides inwards and stitch together the edges. Same, but without Velcro, move with your hands. Turn all parts over. Fill with a little cotton and from the "toe spaces" beginning about 2.5 cm long seams - so create plastic webs.

5. Sew hind legs together, closing the long seams.

6. On the firmer fabric side of the front legs, sew a strip of approx. 10 cm from the soft side of the Velcro strip, put the "good" sides on top of each other and stitch together.

7. Turn the hoses so formed.

8. Sew your feet to your hind legs and your hands to your front legs. On the hands / feet, fold the fabric approx. 1 cm inwards, put it on the leg tube and stitch it with a straight seam.

Step 9

9. For the body, first sew the darts for the head. To do this, cut off a small triangle on the top fabric left and right - just try it on, as it gives a nice head shape - and sew with a short straight seam.

10. The two parts of the "belly" provided with a hem.

Step 11

11. Now the body is sewn together. To do this, first place the upper fabric on the table with the beautiful side up, and at the lower (straight) end, fasten the two hind legs with the feet towards the head. First place the lower part of the "belly" with the nice side down, then the upper part. Stuck everything well (or even better) and make sure that the legs look out to the opening and are not in the way. Sew together carefully.

12. Turn everything around and fill your head with crafting cotton.

Step 13

13. Turn over 1 cm on the front legs and attach them to the body (where the head goes into the abdomen) and sew once across. So you also separated the stuffed with craft cotton head from the body, which is to be filled with the cherry stone pillow.

14. Sew on eyes.

15. First determine the dimensions of the cavity in the frog's stomach for the cherry stone cushion. Then from a (cotton) fabric scraps sew a corresponding pillowcase and do not fill with the cherry seeds too bulging.

Step 16

16. Heat the pillow in the microwave or in the oven and then put it in the stomach.

17. Sit back and enjoy.

WARNING!

Never place the whole frog in the microwave or oven, as it also consists of plastic parts that could eventually melt! Always heat up the inner pillow with the cherry stones!
