Family drama in the Danish royal family: "I do not want to be buried next to her!"

The Danish royal house is booming. Prince Henrik, husband of Queen Margarethe, is currently making headlines because he is publicly pulling on the 77-year-old monarch.

In an interview with the tabloid 'Se og Hør', the 83-year-old does not mince his words and gives vent to his anger. Because it does not suit him that he only plays a minor role next to his wife.

The main reason for that was his title. He would no longer be content to just be "Prince Consort." Should his wife not adapt this title, he would draw consequences from it and be buried next to her after his death.

My wife does not bring me the respect that is usually customary. Margrethe fools me. If she wants us to be buried together, she should make me a queen consort.

The statements of the royal enfant terrible, on the other hand, do not only cause heated discussions among the Danish population. His family is understandably anything but enthusiastic.

Disbelief also from their own ranks

While Queen Margarethe just announced that she would accept her husband's request, her son, Crown Prince Frederik, now speaks. At a meeting in the Danish city of Aarhus, he tells a reporter:

All I have to say is that I deeply regret my father's decision in a variety of ways. More can not be said in the matter at this time.

After peace, joy, pancakes that does not sound. Nevertheless, the 49-year-old and his wife Mary are currently trying their best to make a good face for their people. The last word has certainly not yet been spoken in this family drama.
