Twins lost: "A Heavenly Family" star Beverley Mitchell talks about miscarriage

Actress Beverley Mitchell (37, "A Heavenly Family") now shared a very personal and highly dramatic experience with her followers. On her blog "Growing up in Hollywood" she describes the loss of her unborn twin a few months ago.

The entry begins with a declaration of love to her husband and family: "I thank the stars every day for my beautiful family, it means everything to me and is more than I could ever have dreamed." Mitchell has been involved with tax consultant Michael Cameron since 2001 and has been married since 2008. They have a daughter (5) and a son (3).

Only the twin surprise?

Then she describes the dramatic events that took place "a few months ago": According to the couple then learned of the re-pregnancy. They were "surprised" but also "enthusiastic" and "excited". "It did not take long for us to prepare for a life with even more little people," she recalls. "And to our surprise, we learned that they were twins!" According to Mitchell, the first "shock" was "acceptance and excitement".

? then the shock

But only "a few weeks later, our new dream of the growing family broke, we had a miscarriage," Mitchell recalls. "That was a shock." At first she tried to feel good, "for my family, for me". She got on a plane and went to work, where she was surrounded by babies and children, while she herself had a miscarriage. "That was interesting", she describes the challenging situation retrospectively.

And then she describes what so many women have to experience: because of the "two healthy pregnancies" before she had not thought that she could suffer a miscarriage. "That was a misunderstanding, I did not know much about miscarriages and I did not know many people who had a miscarriage, I thought ..." It was only when she started talking about her "loss" that she learned "that many acquaintances had the same scars. "I was part of a group now, an unspoken and hidden group mourning their losses in the shadows."

And finally: the cure

This mourning in secret was the hardest thing. Because every time she told someone what they were going through, the others would have felt uncomfortable because nobody knew what to say - "and to be honest, there's nothing that can be said". But: "Sharing begins healing," says Mitchell. Not talking about it or ignoring it only makes it worse.

In the meantime, a few months have passed and over time the wound has healed. She had not given up the dream of having an even bigger family, but she was even more grateful for the family she already had.

With "A Heavenly Family" to the series star

Her television debut Mitchell celebrated in 1990 in the series "Big Brother Jake". She became internationally known with the US series "A Heavenly Family", where she was seen from 1996 to 2007 as Lucy Camden Kinkirk. For this role she was awarded three times (1997, 1998, 2000) with a Young Artist Award. Most recently, the actress, singer and producer flickered on the screens in the TV series "Hollywood Darlings".
