Product of the Week: Byredo "Gipsy Water"

BYREDO "Gipsy Water"

Admittedly, I can not judge the smell quite neutrally. Because I was fortunate to get to know his "doer" Ben Gorham recently. Great guy. The native Swede? tattooed over and over, former basketball player, mid 30? grew up in Canada and the US, studied interior design and, in his Globetrotter past, developed a desire to capture his memories in scents.

"Gypsi Water", for example, reminds Ben Gorham of his time in Italy. He often watched the Roma washing their clothes in the river. But do not worry, "Gypsi Water" does not smell like moldy waters. Ben Gorham wanted to put the pride and the fascinating myth of the gypsy life in the middle point. The head note is composed of bergamot, lemon, pepper and juniper berries, the middle note of frankincense, pine needles, rhizome and iris and the base notes of amber, vanilla and sandalwood.

A soft and warm fragrance, dominated by vanilla. Just right to cuddle by the fireplace. A perfume that fits well in the fall and winter. I think "Gypsi Water" has something reassuring. Not at all about roving about, but about cocooning and cashmere blankets.

Gorham has preserved even more childhood memories in his Byredo perfumes. "Chembur" is his memory of the birthplace of his mother, a place near Mumbai in India. Ben Gorham smells incense from a Hindu temple there? which is reflected in the base notes of labdanum, amber and musk. "Green" is the first smell the designer has consciously perceived. He perfected his father's perfume with a mixture of petitgrain, sage, jasmine, rose, honeysuckle, violets, tonka beans and musk. Seven perfumes are now part of Byredo perfumes. To get about Harald Lubner in Hamburg, Ludwig Beck in Munich and Quartier 206 in Berlin.
