Phu Quoc: Fantastically unspectacular
After traveling around Vietnam, I just wanted one thing: to recover. Lying on the beach, reading, bathing - the unspectacular usual. That did not work, because most of Vietnam's beaches are great for surfing, but relaxing too windy. On the former prison island of Phu Quoc in the Thai Gulf we found it then, our longed for vacation rest: In front of our hut was a tender green meadow with grazing cows, behind mango and cashew plantations. There was fresh food, a beautiful, not overcrowded and completely wind-free beach, a small town nearby, nice people and great snorkeling opportunities. Here we stayed - for nine wonderfully unspectacular days.
getting there Z. B from Frankfurt with Lufthansa or with Thai Airways www.thai-airways.de via Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). From there with Vietnam Airlines to Phu Quoc.
