If it is already too late and these white edges have already emerged, you can get them away with special snow remover or leather shampoo for rough leather (both in the shoe store / shoemaker to get).
Otherwise, it is worthwhile to impregnate the shoes (even smooth leather) before the first wearing and to treat regularly for greasing with shoe polish. This prevents the formation of margins.
