ESC winner Salvador Sobral has got a new heart

He had already said goodbye to his fans. In an emotional You Tube video, he explained that it was time to "hand over his body to science." But now Salvador Sobral may hope again. Finally, a donor organ was transplanted to the critically ill ESC winner.

His surgeon Miguel Abecasis told the newspaper 'Publico' that the operation had gone well and his patient was already making progress. "If all goes well, he will have a completely normal life." One and a half years, the 27-year-old had been waiting for a new heart.

The Portuguese singer was last on stage in early September, when he gave a moving farewell concert under the motto "See you soon". Sobral achieved worldwide fame with his ballad 'Amar Pelos Dois', with which he won the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev on May 13, 2017.
