Thomas Markle has learned the joyful news from the radio, as he tells in an interview with the "Mail on Sunday". He had just been in the car, on the way across the border, when the announcement was on the radio. "The first thing I thought about was how I held Meghan in my arms as a newborn 37 years ago," Markle recalls. "I thought, 'My baby is having a baby', and I was very proud at that moment," the 74-year-old continues.
The message filled him with "love, joy and happiness" - for his "beautiful daughter and son-in-law". "A new baby is a blessing and I'm looking forward to seeing a little Meghan or a little Harry," says the expectant grandfather.
That he was not personally informed about the baby news, he took it easy. With all the misinformation and lies being spread, he was not surprised that the couple did not trust him anymore. The pregnancy did not surprise him. "Meghan loves children and she and Harry talked about having a family right from the start, and I'm really happy for both," Markle continues. And he is sure his daughter "will become a fantastic mother".
