Dodecanese

Symi

Welcome to the most beautiful harbor of the Dodecanese! Luxury liners are on the quay, neoclassical villas stand on the rock, which opens like an amphitheater to the water - with great views of the island of Nymos and the Aegean Sea. This has brought wealth to Symi: As in the last century, more and more fishermen moved to the sponge diving, they could afford magnificent town houses. Symi became the Nice of the Aegean. 20,000 people lived here in those crazy years, Symi was sophisticated and chic. The 2500-inhabitant city is still alive and kicking today. And the people on the railing beckon when the ferry leaves.

Nissiros

The island is not very pleasant with its rugged coast and its beaches of black lava. Even the 135-meter-high mountain next to the harbor entrance of Mandraki is made entirely of gray lava and makes the white pilgrimage church on the summit even more radiant into the distance. So greets an island formed by divine bickering. Nissiros, according to Greek mythology, is a piece of Kos. Poseidon broke off to slay a Titan. From its mouth it still hisses. That's how they once explained why Nissiros is a volcano. Many day trippers come to admire this unique attraction of the Aegean. For a few hours they provide life on the tranquil island with the lush vegetation in the interior, the play of colors in the streets and the magnificent mosaic courtyard of the pilgrimage church on the lava hill.

Tilos

When the ferry tumbles into the harbor of the city of Livadia, the inhabitants of the mountain village Mikro Chorio startle up, but soon return to their grass, pluck, feed, complain. Since 1968, Mikro Chorio is the city of goats. The people have given up the place. In the capital, Livadia, people meet in front of the kafenion in the evening, sitting under pomegranate trees, drinking, gossiping.
