Crochet wedding dress: This bride does it

If you look around in the morning on the way to work in the bus and train, will probably see many people who stare at smartphones, ear plugs in the ear and listen to music, read newspapers or books, talk or just look in the area.

However, there are other ways to use time as a commuter: architect Chi Krneta from Seattle, Washington, USA, has no problem crocheting her own wedding dress. "I crocheted my lace wedding dress on the bus on my way to work," she writes ChroniquesDuVasteMonde. She needed five months for that. She also designed the pattern for her dress and chose a pineapple stitch. "The dress was virtually free because I spent little money on it and did not have to spend extra time," says Chi Krneta. The material and the material cost less than 30 dollars (about 24 euros). And the commuter time she could not have used for other things anyway, she says.

In addition to the wedding dress Chi Krneta has also made many other homemade, what was needed for the wedding, for example, the dresses of the bridesmaids and the table decorations. Her wedding, she writes, was planned as an architectural project: she had considered how to make her wedding beautiful and meaningful, but also functional, affordable and sustainable. Everything she did herself was to be used after the celebration.

Even before the wedding, Chi Krneta designed many of her own clothes, she says. The wedding dress is so beautiful that the bride still wants to wear it after the wedding. "I'll wear it in the future with underpants of different colors and the train stuck up." It may be washed in the washing machine, does not wrinkle and needs no special care, as the happy bride tells us. That's what we call practical and sustainable!
