What is the "scarf for life"? And how can I participate?

Last year, 250,000 euros came together!

"The scarf should give hope, show the Syrian children that they are not alone." That was the concern of TV presenter and journalist Pinar Atalay last year who, as one of many celebrities, supported our "A Scarf For Life" campaign. The ChroniquesDuVasteMonde readers felt the same way and donated a fabulous € 250,000 to the refugee children. Because 10 euros per scarf go to Save the Children.

The "Scarf of Life" was launched in 2014 and your emails and letters encouraged us to call for donations again this year. The children continue to need our help to protect them from violence, hunger, child labor and lack of prospects. Because despite all the propaganda of the Syrian regime: The return to the home would be life-threatening for many. They must continue to persevere and hope that donor solidarity will not abate. We continue - together with you and our prominent supporters.

Where are the donations going?

The civil war in Syria is considered the greatest humanitarian catastrophe of modern times. More than five and a half million people have left the country. 2.6 million refugee children live in neighboring regions, and more than five million children in Syria need help and protection.

Of the 250,000 euros you, dear readers, donated in 2017, Save the Children has used 100,000 euros as emergency aid in Syria to provide food, shelter and medicine to hundreds of thousands who have fled or been displaced within Syria. As part of a larger project, € 150,000 is helping to improve the precarious housing situation for nearly 20,000 Syrian children and their families in Lebanon and help some 23,000 Syrian children benefit from education.

How are the refugees? Currently in the region ??

With each additional year of war, violence grows; Nearly three million Syrian children under five know nothing but war. And the mood in the countries where they've come is increasingly turning against them.

How does the price for the scarf come about?

The scarf is made of high quality alpaca / new wool, which has its price. All involved, wool manufacturers and distribution partners, support the action. Also this year, the ChroniquesDuVasteMonde fashion and creative editors designed it in their favorite colors.

What happens on the 10th of December?

That's what you decide. The 10th of December is Human Rights Day. Wear the scarf with everything you do, at work, in the evening in the cinema.
