What do you eat in the office?

The salmon filet with mustard sauce is really great. And the cichlid curry-coconut. But the chicken dishes are good too. Short discussion, then the colleagues Helga Schimmack, Renate Fritz, Charlotte Jescheck and Mechtild Fuchs agree: "Everything is delicious and healthy, because there are no flavor enhancers and other chemicals in it." It is also good that the ingredients are so detailed on the packs. Because there are two allergy sufferers in the office who usually do not dare to eat ready meals.

For the past three months, seven employees of the Munich office "Frau & Geld" have participated in a culinary pilot test, the "Office Bistro" campaign by Frosta. "4.50 euros cost a meal, it can not be cheaper," says Renate Fritz, that's how much you'll get rid of at the butcher, "unless you are satisfied with a sausage meal". For the Italian, lunch costs five euros - and everyone has always been very tired afterwards. It was just too much and too fat. The financial experts are happy that they now have one less problem: how do I eat healthily in the office?

Career with diet

"Where can I get something to eat, ask millions of employees every day," says the nutritionist Susanne Wendel. According to the German Nutrition Society (DGE), only 47 percent of the workforce has access to a canteen. "The professional success depends heavily on the performance and thus on the nutrition," says Susanne Wendel. The Munich-based expert coached companies and private individuals on how to properly eat at work (www.foodtrainer.de). In fact, working people have three options:

  • 1. canteen
  • 2. Snack bar or restaurant
  • 3. Bring the food from home

Who has a canteen, is not automatically better off. "There are considerable differences in the offer," says Katharina Goerg of the DGE. Together with the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, the DGE is developing a guideline for canteen chefs by spring 2008, including a recipe database and weekly meal plans. Goal: to optimize the food offer in the workplace. "Jobfit - with pleasure to success!" is the name of the project. Already at the end of 2007, you can find out about the ideal nutrition in the job on the internet (www.jobfit-dge.de).

How is it in the canteen? According to Susanne Wendel in a good company restaurant:

  • three or more freshly prepared dishes daily
  • Salad and vegetables to choose from
  • regular fish and vegetarian dishes
  • more often unpaniertes than breaded meat
  • and fresh fruit

Many can only dream of this, given the XXL carbonates, chips and a lot of sauce. Well meant, but way too hard for office people. Then rather be self-sufficient. You should only pay attention to a few things:

In the lunch break fast to the food stall. How should I eat healthily ...? No matter if it's the butcher or the fry, basically there's always something healthy there. Even the infamous Leberkäs roll or sausage can be upgraded with a generous helping of coleslaw. "It's best if every meal contains at least one healthy component," advises nutrition expert Susanne Wendel. For example, a salad or fruit.

Salad mixtures are now everywhere, as well as smoothies - ready fruit purees - and fruit. As you combine it, follow the rule of thumb: less greasy, breaded and deep-fried, less calorie-rich sauces like mayonnaise. "A kebab that you order with less meat and more salad is even a healthy lunch," says Wendel. Also recommended: select smaller portions. They are almost always enough to satisfy hunger, and you do not sit there lazily in the office afterwards.

Does salad from the buffet still contain vitamins?

The majority of the vitamins may be gone because leaf lettuce for canteens, supermarkets and food stalls are cut most of the morning. But there are still minerals, phytochemicals and fiber in the greens. That's why this salad is better than none, and it still tastes good.

We only have lunch break at 1pm. My stomach hangs in the knees. , ,

Recommended in this case: a small snack in the morning - for example, with a slice of beef slice of wholegrain bread. For lunch you should take at least five minutes break and possibly not at the desk. "In order not to risk any performance loss, it would be best to distribute several small meals throughout the day anyway, instead of filling your stomach at noon," says Susanne Wendel.

I am often tired after eating - why is it? The tiredness is quite normal. Our power curve goes down after the lunch break. However, eating too much or too much food can add to the reaction. Most professionals want to get full as soon as possible.Unfortunately, foods that are quickly consumed and do not need to be chewed are often too fat or too sweet. After a large portion of too much fat, the body is preoccupied with digestion. Sweet and other carbohydrate-rich meals (mostly bread, rice and pasta) initially provide a short burst of energy, but the blood sugar level then drops quickly, usually even below the original level - and the concentration decreases. The same thing happens if you eat too little, for example, omit breakfast or forget about lunch. At some point you just hang out.

How can I get my sweet hunger under control? It is best to distribute two to three smaller meals over the office day. Sweet hunger usually comes in the afternoon, about three hours after lunch, the blood sugar level drops, and the body demands for faster energy. It supplies sugar, which is why we crave chocolate, biscuits or cakes. Unfortunately, it just makes you hungry for more. Try a piece of pie from yeast dough. Does not have that many calories and contains fruit. But sometimes it just has to be a piece of chocolate. Susanne Wendel: "When you're stressed out and tired, that actually helps over a short low."

"Office Bistro" - eat well, work relaxed Representative address, chic office space. , , and what is there to eat? Let's have a look, motto: Everyone beats their own way. Fun factor: zero. A case for "Büro Bistro", the new concept of the company Frosta. She delivers frozen meals directly to the office. The offer: You get an "office bistro" station (dimensions: 112 x 171 x 72 cm), consisting of a freezer, two microwaves, compartments for plates, cutlery and napkins and a lockable cash box.

In the chest: ten different gourmet meals - with meat, fish or vegetarian. Including four ChroniquesDuVasteMonde diet dishes. From December 2007, another seven gourmet meals will be added. All made according to the Frosta purity law - without additives such as flavors, colorings, flavor enhancers or emulsifiers. Anyone who buys the station, commits himself to 60 dishes each month (single price: 4.50 euros). Freezer and microwave are already available? Then only the dishes can be ordered, with discount. The action is worth from seven, eight people who use the station up to twice a week.
