Surrounded by trees and nature, gently nestled on the banks of a gently babbling brook: That sounds like an idyllic environment. But is it really the ideal setting for a birth? That's how the 43-year-old Simone Thurber gave birth to her child - and published the entire sequence on Youtube:
"Connectedness with all life"
The idea for this extraordinary delivery was given to Simone from a documentary about births in the Black Sea, as she told the Self.com portal: "This sense of attachment to all life has deeply impressed me." We forget that we are all original creatures, who could not survive without plants, oxygen, trees, water and sun, it simply appealed to me and I wanted my child to see nature as the first impression of his life. " Together with her family, she decided for this remote stream, to which the family had previously undertaken several bathing trips.
Connected with nature - but dangerous!
Nevertheless, a birth so far away from the shot on the other hand is a risky matter - especially since neither a doctor nor a midwife were on site. But Simone was aware of the dangers: in case complications arose, a helicopter pilot was advised who would have taken the family to the nearest hospital on demand - within 30 minutes they would have been there in an emergency.
Fortunately, everything went smoothly: after 12 hours, Simone held her daughter Perouze in her arms and was happy to have made her this very special experience as a start in her life.
Risk factors despite precaution
Nevertheless, this birth is viewed very critically from many sides. The mere fact that a forest stream is not germ-free, of course, but can contain many potentially dangerous for newborns bacteria is highly questionable from a medical point of view.
Criticism that does not bother Simone. She does not want to dictate to a woman how to give birth to her children, and sees her video as a source of inspiration rather than the only true role model for all mothers: "My message to the women out there is: Trust your body and do yours Give birth to what makes you feel good - whether in a hospital or anywhere! "
