Unforgettable: Evelyn Hamann

Evelyn Hamann as Adelheid in "Adelheid and her murderers"

Vicco von Bülow and Evelyn Hamann were the Humphrey Bogart and the Ingrid Bergmann of the German TV-Sketches, a dream couple with lines of dialogue from the canon of German television entertainment. As eternal as Bogey's "I look you in the eye, little one" is Evelyn Hamann's "You have something!" at the sight of the walking nipples in the face of her counterpart. Or her famous "Then I've got something special", when she was interviewed in the role of the housewife Hoppenstedt for their motives for the Jodeldiplom. Or the brave and desperately whispered "Little Fritham" the TV announcer in the "th" jungle.

The collaboration of Hamann and von Bülow began in 1976 at Radio Bremen. Until 1979, the duo created all the famous skits that may be the only ones in the history of television to unite complete extended families happily and without arguing in front of the screen - until today. In the same tone as these classics, Hamann and von Bülow also shot the two cinema films "Ödipussi" and "Pappa ante Portas". Evelyn Hamann drew her great humor from a previously unprecedented mix of stiffness, stubbornness and firm willTo brave the situation, however disastrous it may be, to the bitter end. In this context, think of the secretary, who is determined to finally be willing to do her wooden boss - if only the office furniture were not so hellishly impractical for a sleeper-hour.

Born in Hamburg Hamann comes from a musical family (which she could certainly use very nicely for her yodel diploma sketch): Her father was concertmaster of the NDR Symphony Orchestra, her mother singer and vocal pedagogue. The daughter made a classical acting education and began her career at the Hamburg Thalia Theater. In the fateful encounter with Loriot in 1976, he is said to have searched for pretty much the exact opposite of the skinny, dark-haired Hamburger, namely someone of the type "blonde, chubby housewife". Hamann was able to convince him that appearances are not everything, and that her eyes, as if they had been stunned by horror, and their slightly raised upper lip, were exactly what he needed.

But even without Vicco von Bülow Hamann wrote television story: Her ARD series "Adelheid and her murderers" was always quota king, and with numerous appearances from the "dream ship" on the "crime scene" to her role as Professor Brinkmanns housekeeper Carsta Michaelis in The "Black Forest Clinic" she played indelibly in the memory of the audience.

As so often happens, chance seems a bit cynicalby launching a gigantic DVD box with Loriots and their complete works: "Loriot - The Complete TV Edition" brings together over 12 hours of skits, cartoons and more from and with the two heroes of TV history. You have something of your own. Farewell and meet again.
