This rule of thumb tells you how much your toddler can eat

How much food does my child need? A simple question that is not so easy to answer. Breastfeeding is still easy, but as soon as our children start eating "real" food, it becomes more complicated for their parents. Not only with the question of what I give him food, but also how much?

It is one of the first fears of mothers that their child could eat too little. And so we worry quickly when the toddler pushes the plate after three bites. Can it really be full?

The right portion size for toddlers

When we visited a blogging event from Milupa, we came to know a rule of thumb that will allow you to easily solve the crowd problem.

In a toddler you can assume that to be Stomach is about the size of his own clenched fist. Not very big, right?

And starting from the child's hand, you can then also calculate the portion sizes of different meals:

Considering how tiny the hands of infants are, according to this formula, not much ends up on the plate. But that is no reason to worry: First, the child will already report, if it wants more. And second, the small portions also have the advantage that they do not seem so deterrent to the child. From a mountain potatoes, they are often overwhelmed and refuse the food quite possibly.

We find this rule of thumb very helpful - maybe it will make your meals easier in the future!
