This is how you care for your skin optimally

All in good time

The order in the beauty routine and when applying the care products is crucial. The absolute basic rule is: First comes the daily cleaning, then (once a week) an exfoliation. That should always be applied to the cleansed skin? and do not act as a cleaning product. This is followed by deep care: brighteners, anti-aging serums or a decongestant eye care are now off! Then a day or night care can be applied and only then, as needed, a foundation.

Care is the rule: light textures are always under heavy textures. Otherwise, the products may not work properly.

Clean

How you cleanse your skin depends on your skin type. Dry skin is best cleaned with a greasy cleansing milk. This will prevent your skin from having too much contact with water. If you prefer to use toner, it should be without alcohol. If you have oily skin, you can wash with a soap-free wash gel in the morning and in the evening - not more often, because that does not make the skin any cleaner, as a study by Harvard Medical School has shown.

abschminken

Remnants of 'old make-up' can clog pores and disrupt the natural regeneration cycles of the skin. Therefore, you should always thoroughly make-up. In order not to destroy the skin barrier, the cleaning products should be pH neutral and should not degrease the skin too much.

To make a make-up removal product has developed a true hype. The micellar water. The clear liquid is reminiscent of lotion and is applied to a cotton pad, with which you can quickly remove the entire make-up, the eyes do not burn and even dry and sensitive skin is not irritated. Disadvantage: Most micellar waters contain a chemical surfactant responsible for the phenomenal make-up removal effect. Critics accuse surfactants, which are also used in detergents, shampoos and shower gels, to make the skin more permeable and so allow harmful substances to enter the body. But there are alternatives from the natural cosmetics, which do without surfactants.

Regularly ? but not too often? exfoliate

Horned scales make the skin look colorless and dull. A skin-specific peeling removes these dandruff without irritating the skin and stimulates blood circulation. Apply at least once a week depending on the skin type. Incidentally, oily skin should not be peeled more often, too much cleansing can cause the sebaceous glands to increase their fat production? do not rub too hard, as this promotes inflammation.

creams

Dry skin needs a high-fat cream that keeps the moisture in the skin. A clear indication that the cream of your skin is not enough: if you two or three hours after creaming again feel tight. Then you should immediately switch to a richer cream. Nice for mature skin are creams with calcium that can help to maintain the natural skin barrier. In winter, your skin is best protected during long walks and outdoor sports with a high-fat wind and weather cream. If the sun shines, it should also have a UV filter. If the skin flakes, a face cream with urea prima, which binds the skin's own moisture helps. For sensitive skin, the simpler the care, the better. Because the fewer ingredients your skin, the lower the likelihood that she reacts irritated. It makes sense to use a complete skin care series because the ingredients are repeating.

Apply cream properly

Gently pat in is the best technique. But also the tapping route is crucial: First, the cream is applied to the chin. From this starting point tap up to the cheeks. This stimulates the skin and ensures that the nutrients are absorbed properly. Finally, the forehead is again extra creamed. Add a small amount to the root of the nose. From here use fingertips to draw crescent-shaped circles on both sides to the temples. Take special care with the eye area, because there the skin is very thin and sensitive. The best thing with the ring finger (the index finger exerts too much pressure) gently tap from the inside out.

Use an extra night care

By midnight, sebum production is lowest on facial skin, so night creams may be a little richer. The skin is also happy about a dose of moisture in the evening, as it released a lot during the day - the skin barrier is much more permeable during the day than at night. Care with repairing anti-aging active ingredients are particularly useful during sleep, as the skin is now particularly busy with regeneration and collagen build-up.

Do not overstock

Can skincare also hurt? Yes! Because too much and a wild combination of different products overwhelms our skin. Caution is advised for especially rich recipes. Too much fat in the cream creates a good breeding ground for impurities, come to blackhead favoring ingredients such as peanut, sesame or olive oil, pimples are quasi programmed.

The over-care can be expressed as so-called perioral dermatitis (stewardess disease, mannequin disease). The result is redness, pustules and nodules around the mouth. Similar phenomena are also present in the eye area or at the entrance to the nose. Often helps only a nursing break? a zero diet for the skin.

Is a serum useful?

A serum is suitable as a supplement for every skin type. Sera contain up to three times as many active ingredients as a cream - and in the highest possible concentration. For sensitive skin you should use one without alcoholic base. Tired areas of the skin can also be treated well with a serum. How to use a serum best? After cleaning, the skin is particularly receptive to active ingredients. Therefore, the first care step should be the serum. Then, as usual, the day or night care is applied. For mixed to oily skin, a serum may also be sufficient as a care for the day, especially in the summer. But there are also some oily serums. They are used to quickly improve the skin surface and to optimize the skin feel. They are especially well-suited for stressed, dry skin.

masks

With unpleasant feelings of tension, dryness wrinkles, redness and scales or with pimples, a mask tailored to the needs of the skin can help immediately. Especially in the evening we can use this beauty ritual to relax. Dry skin can tolerate a moisturizing mask two to three times a week as an intensive treatment; impure skin should not be irritated too often with a mask. Important: When applying, avoid the eye area? otherwise it can quickly burn in the eye, because some products contain creep.

Pimples? This helps!

What to do if blackheads and pimples sprout? Above all, stay cool. With a good masking cream even major skin disasters do not occur. Acute inflammation improves when you apply a soothing gel at night, for example with zinc or niacinamide. In the long term, intense peels (such as microdermabrasion) can normalize the skin. In addition, check whether the care really fits the skin: "Many acne patients contribute to their blemishes by using too heavy creams," says Prof. Dr. med. Ingo Worret, Dermatologist at the Technical University of Munich. Therefore, always take extra products for oily skin. If it says "for normal and combination skin" or "for all skin types" it probably is not the right one.
