4000 Syrian refugees celebrate - and get full

Usually we celebrate a wedding with friends and family. But maybe it makes this very special day even more beautiful if we share our happiness with those who have lost everything?

Fethullah Üzümcüoğlu and Esra Polat would clearly answer that question. The Turkish couple from Kilis near the Syrian border invited 4000 Syrian refugees to his wedding. Together with his guests, the bridal couple distributed the wedding meal from food trucks provided by the aid organization "Kimse Yok Mu" (KYM).

At first, the bride was not enthusiastic about the idea

The idea had the father of the groom. He found a wedding banquet inappropriate when people in the immediate vicinity needed food. Ali Üzümcüoğlu said to the newspaper "Serhat Kilis" that he hopes that other families will resemble them and share food with their Syrian brothers and sisters. And he expressed his joy that the couple started his new life with a "selfless action".

The bride said it was a wonderful experience for her to share her wedding supper with people in need. Even if she was initially shocked when her fiancé told her about the idea. But she was easily convinced.

A celebration of love - for all

Her husband added, "Seeing the happiness in the eyes of Syrian children was priceless, and we began our journey to happiness by making others happy, and that's a great feeling."

And his father Ali Üzümcüo? Lu has apparently come a little closer to his goal. Many of the couple's friends were so taken by the action that they wanted to celebrate their marriage in a similar way - with the poorest of the poor, who are often treated with indifference, rejection or hostility.
