That's what it means when you talk in your sleep

"Schsslamagaredomeng ... schssala ... laffroff" - that's how many of us sound when talking in our sleep. Sometimes correct sentences or phrases of sentences come about, but often they are sounds that are hard to decipher for others. That's because our speech muscles do not work properly during sleep.

The phenomenon is known in the jargon "Somniloquie" and occurs in about 5 percent of adults. However, many never find out about it because they sleep alone.

But why are we talking at night? There are several explanations for this. Some scientists assume that simply things are pronounced from the dream and sleepers, especially in stressful situations, with fever, alcohol or drug influence tend to give the nocturnal sounds.



Nerina Ramlakham, the author of the book "Fast Asleep, Wide Awake", says that people talk in their sleep to talk about their souls. These are often things that one does not dare to pronounce in real life.
