Study proves: Who buys large packs, saves a lot of money in the long term

Vergleich.org has studied 185 products that are sold in two different product sizes, such as alcohol, baby food, drugstore or coffee.

The result: In 165 cases, the large pack was cheaper compared to the smaller product sizes.

Savings of 15.2 percent

"In over 83 percent of cases, the purchase of large packages is the right decision"according to press spokeswoman Michelle Günter of Vergleich.org. The products of the test car baskets come from REWE, Real, Edeka, Kaufland, dm and Rossmann. According to Vergleich.org, the average saving on buying a bulk pack is 15.2 percent.

It depends on the product group

But watch out! Not everything saves you cash! Who reaches for large packs, saves in the long term? but this affects certain product categories! It is worthwhile, especially with long-lasting products such as canned food, ready meals, sauces and spices to grab large packs.



By comparison, the chances of saving alcohol are less good. "While you save over 44 percent on non-alcoholic beverages when buying the bulk pack, the average sip of the big bottle of alcohol costs even more."
