Spider-Man's dark side

It could not be better for Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire): He is Best of His Degree, is about to propose to his great love Mary-Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) and his alter-ego "Spider-Man" is in New York's a celebrated star. And even Peter's former best friend Harry Osborne (James Franco) can not remember after an accident that he wanted Peter (or Spider-Man) in revenge for the death of his father's neck. As I said, it could not be better.

Spider-Man's dark side

Spider-Man gets really angry

It does not, on the contrary, on the horizon of the spider man draw dark clouds. In the job, Peter gets unexpected competition from the ambitious Eddie Brock (Topher Grace) and the pretty Gwen (Bryce Dallas Howard) causes a mischief in the relationship with his near-fiancé Mary-Jane. And then it gets even darker: One night, Peter infects an alien slime, which gives him new powers, but also has significant character changes. The actually shy and reserved man from then on walks through the city as an arrogant and overbearing womanizer. His spider costume is also changing, the new, black Spider-Man is now aggressive and unpredictable.

Hunt for Spider-Man

New enemies are not long in coming: the escaped inmate Flint Marko (Thomas Haden Church) presents Spider-Man with an almost impossible task. Marko had been turned into a sand villain in a comic-typical accident, bombs, blows and other bullets can not hurt him. As a shapeshifter "Sandman" he can adapt to his environment - even Spider-Man's dense spider webs can not stop him. To make matters worse, Harry can suddenly remember his murderous desires, turns into the "Green Goblin" and from now on hunting for Spider-Man. And because all good things are known to be three, suddenly another villain appears ...

Stunning scenes

Granted, a lot of stuff for a single movie. For this reason, the viewer has to adjust to about 140 minutes of material, but pass by in flight. Because "Spider-Man 3" holds plenty of surprises and twists and surpasses the first two parts especially by the sophisticated technical sequences. Not only the physical conditions of the villains are impressively implemented, the viewer may also participate for the first time in nearly perfect flight choreographies. The aesthetics are not comparable to the video game optics of part one, the tempo of such scenes is breathtaking. When it comes to special effects, "Spider-Man 3" really sets standards.

Have fun and a bit of kitsch

Outstanding are also the scenes in which Tobey Maguire for a short time his faithful stupid dachshund look to put his hair in the face and a little kohl. When Peter Parker strolls through the streets as a macho mesmerizing women, the film gets a wonderfully ironic touch. Even the sometimes brutal battle scenes are interrupted again and again by flippant sayings, the necessary distance to the event is always preserved. The connections between relationship problems, existential questions and small and large human dramas are getting closer.

"Spider-Man 3" is alot of fun, only the cheesy final scene could have saved director Sam Raimi. Sunrise, languishing glances and exaggerated expressions of emotion are a bit too much of a good thing, a little more of Spider-Man's dark side would have done the overall impression and just the end very well. But who knows, maybe the creators wanted to pick up such entanglements for another part of the Spider-Man adventure? There is plenty of material in any case.
