Sonia wrote her own obituary - and a request to us all!

Anyone reading these lines soon realizes that it was not vanity that made Sonia Todd write her own obituary. The young woman wanted to make her small contribution in her last hours to make the world at least a little bit better - and we can all help her! Here you can read the complete obituary - it offers a lot of food for thought:

"My name is Sonia Todd ..."

"... and I died of cancer when I was 38. I decided to write my own obituary, because most of the time it's written in one way or another that I do not like.

Either friends and family meet up and count up all the things that have been achieved between birth and grave - or they try to write a poetic, final stanza on the life of man, which is so luminous that the deceased for the bodily Could hold an embodiment of a god.

The truth, or my version of it, is this:

I tried to make it as good as I could. Sometimes I was successful, mostly I failed - but I tried. Despite all my crazy comments, jokes and complaints, I really loved humanity. I have not always said or done the right thing, and when you arrive at the end of your life, those are the things that you truly regret; the little, simple things that hurt other people.

Some people have told me that it would be morbid to write my own obituary ...

... but I think that's great, because I can say thanks to all the people who helped me on my way. Who loved me, cared for me, laughed with me and taught me things so that I could have a wonderful, happy life. I had an immense luck that I could get to know you all - it has made my life worth living.

If you think of me and want to do something in my honor, do something about it:

  • Engage in a volunteer school, church or library
  • Write a letter to someone and tell him what a positive influence he had on your life.
  • When you smoke: Stop it!
  • When you get drunk in the car: Stop it!
  • Turn off the electronics, go ice cream with a child and talk to him about his dreams and wishes.
  • Forgive someone who does not deserve it.
  • Remain with all children who sell homemade soda and say aloud how excited you are about their product.
  • Bring someone to smile today, if you can. "
