Just ten months after the death of her father Jorge Zorreguieta (1928-2017) in August of last year, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands (47) has once again suffered a tremendous stroke of fate. Her sister, born in 1984, Inés Zorreguieta Cerruti, was found dead in her Argentinian homeland, according to the media. Dutch sites are also reporting tragic deaths.

Inés suffered from depression

Accordingly, Inés was found lifeless in her apartment in Buenos Aires. The exact cause of death is still unknown, but it goes so far from a suicide. Inés is said to have suffered from depression for years.

Out of a total of seven children, the Argentine politician Jorge Zorreguieta had two marriages, she was the youngest. She studied psychology and worked at the United Nations in Panama and later at the Ministry of Social Development.



Queen Máxima was her confidante

She had a particularly close relationship with her older sister Máxima. At the royal wedding in February 2002, she was even one of the bridesmaids, also she was the godmother of Máxima's youngest daughter, Princess Ariane (11).

Máxima has canceled all appointments

Queen Máxima of course canceled all appointments immediately. According to an official statement: "In connection with the death of Inés Zorreguieta, the sister of Her Majesty Queen Máxima, the Queen will not be present at the opening of the Holland Festival." Nor will she accompany her husband, King Willem-Alexander, on state visits from 11 to 15 June in Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.



The royal family travels to Argentina

Máxima will travel to Buenos Aires with her husband and three children Amalia (14), Alexia (12) and Ariane to attend Inés's funeral. This was extra for a few days postponed. In Argentina, it is usually customary to settle the deceased directly the next day.
