Sex and the City
There are television series that are made for women. In case of "Sex and the City" but also men can learn VERY much!
"Sex and the City" is about love, fun, friendship and, of course, sex. The four New Yorker friends Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) go together through good and bad times. The focus is on Carrie's column "Sex and the City", in which she caricatures the highs and lows of her friends. So, dear men: At least since "SATC" is clear: women talk very well about sex! But how! Never before have you heard them talking about so much pig stuff within half an hour (that's how long a series lasts). There is no intimacy. Not only our ears, but also the eyes are offered a lot. Sequence after episode brings the fashion in the foreground. And then it's not just about listening to Samantha's stories about multiple orgasms, but looking forward to every new scene with Carrie in a new, ultra-smart, sensational and totally stylish outfit! Lead actress Sarah Jessica Parker has become a style icon and role model for many women and girls around the world. As Carrie she taught us "Manolo Blahnik".
Above all, the friendship between women was revolutionized by "SATC". Hardly a young woman who was not exactly coincidentally exactly THREE friends. "You know, we're just like the girls from Sex and the City." Is clear!
When the story of the series came to an end in 2004 and the four women became monogamy, we had four long years to hope for a sequel. In 2008 it was finally time: "Sex and the City - The Movie" came to the cinemas. We ran, stormed and jostled ourselves in the cinemas, four and in high heels, of course, to see how our favorite New Yorkers did during their break. And when we thought the end of the movie would be THE ULTIMATE Happy End, we were surprised with another message: sequel of the movie follows in 2010. Despite quarrels about high pay, fights on set and other Hollywood posturing: we can go back enjoy magical hours in front of the screen - with our best friends, of course!

Friends
For ten years we have laughed, cried, suffered and fevered with them. We knew their stories and it was as if we knew them personally, the "Friends" from New York.
Monica (Courteney Cox Arquette), Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), Joey (Matt LeBlanc), Chandler (Matthew Perry) and Horse (David Schwimmer) are friends. They live in the same house and always hang out in the same café, in the "Central Perk". For ten seasons (1994-2004) and 236 episodes, we have watched everyone being in love with everyone, everyone's mad at each other, and getting on with each other and reconciling.
It was about love, sex, relationships and career, but above all about the common maturing, growing up and friendship. And this friendship had a very, very funny script!
By the way, at first the series should be called "Insomnia Café". Further suggestions included "Friends like Us" and "Across the Hall". But "Friends"so simple and simple is perfect. Whether there is still a movie in the cinemas? We do not give up hope. The only way to see our "friends" regularly is to buy the seasons on DVD at the moment.

King of Queens
The series "King of Queens" is about a courier from Queens and his wife who works at a law firm in Manhattan. Boring? Nonsense! To Kaputtlachen!
Doug HeffernanKevin James), mentioned courier driver, is overweight, clumsy and funny to fall in love with. But Doug's weight problems as well as the ups and downs of his marriage to Carrie are at the center of the plot.
A few facts besides.First: There were nine seasons, which were filmed from 1998 to 2007, but due to the great success of the series, it is still broadcast today (Monday to Friday on Kabel 1) and sold as a DVD box. Second, King of Queens is family friendly. Gary Valentine, who plays Doug's cousin on the show, is James' older brother in real life. The husband of Leah also has a guest role. He plays Rico, a colleague of Doug. Third, Jerry Stiller is by the way the father of comedy legend Ben Stiller.

During this time, the series was nominated for more than 80 awards, winning two Emmys and two Golden Globes. Many stars have starred in the Bill Cosby Show, including Alicia Keys, Naomi Campbell, Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Adam Sandler. Will & Grace
Want (Eric McCormack) and Grace (Debra brass) meet and love each other during their first semester at Columbia University. "Will & Grace" ran for eight seasons from 1998 to 2006 and was nominated for an unbelievable 230 prizes, including starring and crew (the series has won 10 Emmys). Also, she is still the only sitcom in which all supporting roles have been awarded an Emmy Award. Currently, the cable channel Sat.1 Comedy repeats the episodes, the first three seasons are also available on DVD.
Also "Will & Grace" had many celebrities, including Alec Baldwin, Jack Black, Cher, Madonna, Britney Spears, Sharon Stone and Jennifer Lopez.

gossip Girl
"Gossip Girl's here, your one and only source of the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite."
It may be blatantly official blasphemed! "Gossip Girl" shows how it works. The stranger mixes up the life of young New York high society with her hip blog from the Upper East Side. No wonder, because she gets damned good stuff to write. She likes to talk about Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively), Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford) and Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) - rich, spoiled and unscrupulous teenagers. They do not spend their time in cinemas and on bowling alleys, but follow in the footsteps of their parents at a young age and fight for prestige and influence in the high circles of society. The means: a lot of money, intrigue, power games, drugs and sex. The area: The "Constance Billard" - private school in Manhattan. As Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) and his younger sister Jenny (Taylor Momsen) also move to this school, the two "normal" middle-class teens are under the spell of the clique and have to face many prejudices.The chaos is inevitable when Dan falls in love with Serena. Because Nate has long been keeping an eye on the pretty blonde. Actually, Nate has been with Blair since childhood. The Crux: Blair and Serena are best friends. Phew! Quite a lot of confusion? That was nothing! So that everyone knows about everything, keeps "Gossip Girl" with photos and status messages to keep the teens up to date. And she is feared: For not all secrets should come to light!
Although it's about friendship, love and jealousy, as in many other series, "Gossip Girl" puts a lot of depression, drugs and sex on it in the youth series. It quickly becomes clear that the appearance of the perfect world can also deceive.
For fashionistas "Gossip Girl" is an absolute eye candy. The outfits of the performers are already legendary, the styles are copied and especially Leighton Meester (Blair) and Blake Lively (Serena) smile at us from every fashion magazine.
Incidentally, the voice of "Gossip Girl" is that of actress Kristen Bell. So far, there have been three seasons - and although we're burning to find out who the "Gossip Girl" really is, we secretly hope it will be a very, very long time before we know it. The second season will air on 7 March 2010 Sunday morning on ProSieben.

Lipstick Jungle
Also "Lipstick Jungle" was written by Candace Bushnell, author of "Sex and the City". And also in this series, the friendship of three successful New York women is the focus: Wendy Healy (Brooke Shields), Managing Director of a major film studio, Nico Riley (Kim Raver), Editor-in-chief of the successful fashion magazine "Bonfire", and Victory Ford (Lindsay Price), an aspiring fashion designer. The series is about the lives of these women, their jobs, their problems, the highs and lows in their partners, but also about intrigue and suffering. It's especially nice to see how the girlfriends are holding together more and more, no matter what.
Fans of "Sex and the City" love too "Lipstick Jungle", The series is funny, dramatic, entertaining and exciting. Too bad that after only two seasons she was dropped off due to "financial difficulties". Even on German television we can no longer watch the three friends and their lives.

How I met your mother
In 2030, the architect Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) to tell his two children how he met their mother. This story begins in 2005 when Ted finishes his studies. His best friend Marshall (Jason sail), who is still on his way to becoming a lawyer, and his long-term friend and kindergarten teacher Lilly (Alyson Hannigan), get engaged. Ted decides to find a wife to marry and have a baby-but the search in New York is not that easy. He gets strong support in dating from his friend Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), a self-proclaimed womanizer that's all about getting women to bed for a night. Right at the beginning Ted falls in love with TV presenter Robin (Cobie Smulders), which, however, is not interested in a serious relationship. They become friends.
All five are a sworn clique who tells everything. Everything: good, bad, embarrassing and funny. Four seasons have been aired in the US, the fifth is currently under way and season six is already in the planning stage. It's still not clear after the fourth season how Ted actually met his mother's mother, but the whole story remains spectacular, unbelievably entertaining and exciting.
Incidentally, "How I Met Your Mother" also shines with prominent guest stars such as Britney Spears, Heidi Klum, Enrique Iglesias or Mandy Moore. ProSieben shows the series every weekday in the morning program.

Law & Order: New York

The Honeymooners
A classic among the American sketch shows: "The Honeymooners" plays in Brooklyn, New York, 15 years after the Great Depression of 1929. It's about two couples who are friends with each other and live in the same apartment building: the bus driver Ralph Kramden and his wife Alice and the sewer worker Edward L. Norton and his wife Thelma Trixie fight each other through during the difficult economic times. Although the series was shot in the 1950s, the skits still work well today.
Incidentally, "The Honeymooners" is considered a forerunner of "Family Feuerstein". Scenes and sayings from the sketch series are still quoted in series such as "The Simpsons", "Family Guy" or "King of Queens". In addition, the sitcom served as a template for the movie "The Honeymooners", which came to the cinemas in 2005.

The Nanny
"The Nanny" is a true institution in the world of comedy series. The sitcom ran from 1993 to 1999 and delighted viewers in over 90 countries. Repeats are still being broadcast today, currently on VOX this morning.
Francine Joy, short "Fran", Fine (Fran Drescher), from Queens, New York, is being taken to the streets by her fiancé and is going door to door to sell make-up. When she joined the Sheffield family in Manhattan, it turns the lord of the house, Broadway producer Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy), just as a nanny. The fun-loving, laid-back and, above all, very, very loud Fran sits at New York's high society but over time wins all hearts out for herself. Especially the children Maggie (Nicholle Tom), Brighton (Benjamin Salisbury) and Gracie (Madeline Zima) and the butler Niles (Daniel Davis), who is as curious as she is. Fran and Niles share their secrets and joys - and their aversion to C.C. Babcock (Lauren Lane), Maxwell's longtime business partner, who is not at all in love with Maxwell.
A big role also plays Frans family, which is extremely entertaining and knows no pain limits. Mother Sylvia (Renée Taylor) enters and leaves the Sheffield home and has been busy for years to get her daughter under the hood. Which is not so good, because Fran is actually in love with Maxwell. However, he is only at the end of the series to his feelings ...
Throughout the series, there are some running gags that keep cropping up, such as Frans's stories about her relatives, her talent for covering up her age, her great love for all the celebrities in the world, especially Barbara Streisand, her constant meddling, her unusual outfits. We like to hear the incredibly funny exchanges between Niles and C.C. or Fran and her mother, once again trying to go on a diet. "The Nanny" has been nominated eleven times for the Emmy and twice for the Golden Globe. The series won an Emmy Award. Again, many stars had guest appearances, including Pamela Anderson, Celine Dion, Whoopi Goldberg, Hugh Grant and Elton John.

This dialogue is at least as well known as the songs "The, the, the" or "Mah-Na-Mah-Na". From where? Sure: from the "Sesame Street"! This is actually called "Sesame Street" and is located in New York. The concept of the children's series is simple: children should learn something, be entertained and in their own way get something out of the "real" world out there. In the program of the broadcasters ARD, NDR and KIKA the "Sesame Street" has been an integral part for years.
Muppets live in the "Sesame Street" next door to people of different peoples. Our favorites: the nice shopkeeper Mr. Huber, the yellow one Bird Bibo and the one who lives in the garbage bin Oskar, He likes rubbish and everything that is dirty, stinky and dirty.
Above all, optimism, ethnic diversity and tolerance count in the "Sesame Street" - and this principle has been asserted for over 40 years now. Today the program is broadcast in 140 countries. In Germany, however, the plot was adapted to the audience, it should be something unpolitical. Some American characters have been replaced, including Oskar, who is better known to us than Rumpel. The "Sesame Street" is and remains one of the most successful children's programs, which also delights adults - especially because their little ones learn so much.
Would you have known? 2005 was the Cookie Monster from the American TV station PBS dieted. Since then, it feeds on apples, kohlrabi and wholegrain biscuits. Why? Because the American children are too fat and the "Sesame Street" should just lead by example.

Futurama
The Science fiction animated series comes from the pen of Matt Groeningwho also brought "The Simpsons" to life, playing in the 31st century. The venue is the pizza delivery service "Planet Express" in New York.
The story begins in 1999, when the pizza delivery man Philip J. Fry accidentally falls asleep and wakes up a thousand years later. He starts working at Planet Express, making new friends and joining them in unusual adventures. Themes of the series are friendship, love, sex. Everything that interests young adults.
The New York in the 31st Century has many parallels with today's New York. Although Madison Square Garden is now called Madison Cube Garden, the car is being replaced by a hammock and public transport is being replaced by a system of tubes, but New York is still a city full of problems: crime, poverty and prostitution belong to the agenda.
