See bad

What happens in the body?

The older you get, the more elastic your lenses will lose. The lens ensures that the eye can switch between near and far vision and see it well. Their soft mass is regulated by fine, adjacent muscles in their degree of curvature. This adaptability is called accommodation and is mainly used for near vision. Already at the age of ten, lime begins to accumulate there, which affects the accommodation. At first, however, this goes unnoticed. The slowly increasing rigidity of the lens causes the so-called maximum near-point to move farther and farther into the distance: they become far-sighted and can hardly see the near. Age (far) sight (presbyopia) is not a disease, but a natural physiological phenomenon of aging. It starts at about 45 years.

How does that show?

The surest indication of presbyopia, when they see things getting worse, is the distance between the eye and the newspaper: if you have to keep them more than 40 cm away to be able to read the lines clearly, there is farsightedness. At first, sufferers find reading as exhausting, sometimes they feel a dull pressure on their eyes or forehead. Far-sighted people become old-sighted in the past, myopic ones later or not at all.

How can I prevent this?

Actually not at all ? because sooner or later every person will be affected and starts to look bad. The positive effect of a special eye training has not been proven.

What can I do if I already have it?

Anyone who is presbyopic and can see badly gets reading glasses. This must be adapted to the individual reading habits: the shorter the distance to the reading, the stronger the required close-fitting glasses.
