Scott Walker: Former frontman of the Walker Brothers is dead

Colleagues pay respect to Walker

Walker was born with the civil name Noel Scott Engel 1943 in Ohio. In 1964 he founded the Walker Brothers together with John Maus (1943-2011) and Gary Leeds (77). With the song "The Sun Is not Gonna Shine (Anymore)", a remake of the Frankie Valli song, they made the breakthrough in the US. The land was later captured by a veritable Walkers Mania. In 1967, the band split up and Scott Walker began his solo career. In the 70s, the Walker Brothers reunited for a short time.

Fans and music colleagues around the world are mourning for Walker. Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke (50) praised the musician in a tweet as "a big impact on Radiohead and myself." Walker taught him how to use his voice and words. He was allowed to meet Walker at a festival. "Such a nice and gentle outsider," York wrote.
