Hardly any other movie announcement caused as much whirl as this: Jessica Black should play Romy Schneider. The actor of the century, whose life nobody had dared to dare so far. Almost at the same time, a second film project started - with Yvonne Catterfeld in the lead role. "Several monkeys, one thought," says Romy producer Markus Brunnemann laconically summarizes this duplication. Catterfeld's film "A Woman Like Romy" did not come out due to a funding problem.

Free play for Jessica Schwarz. And she really does her job really well. She laughs, cries, desperately, and loves Romy as if she had spent her entire life working only for that role. In fact, Romy Schneider's feelings are given a great place in the film adaptation, fortunately only marginally paying tribute to her international breakthrough as "Sissi". A role about which Romy Schneider himself later said: "Keeping my life like semolina porridge on me". Instead, her move to Paris is in the foreground, her amour fou with Alain Delon (Guillaume Delorme), her destructive marriage with actor and director Harry Meyen (Thomas Kretschmann) and the longing for her father, who was far too seldom there for her.
He was also the one who handed out a note to 14-year-old Romy at Schloss Goldenstein boarding school, saying "Put your childhood in your pocket and run away, because that's all you have." It was to become Romy Schneider's guiding principle.
