Review: Lena Meyer-Landrut before the big breakthrough

BYM.de: There is a lot of hype around you right now. How does that feel?

Lena Meyer-Landrut: In my opinion, the hype is more about my performances than about me, and of course it's wonderful! It feels extraordinary to be praised from so many sides, especially when it is really serious. But I really had to laugh when it stood somewhere that even bet on me - I think that's totally crazy.

BYM.de: Did the Grand Prix have any meaning for you and your friends in recent years?

Lena Meyer-Landrut: Well, I followed it because the Grand Prix is just a must on TV. But I have not waited there full of anticipation and equipped with 45 bags of chips, because in the past I had not really much left for it. But that has now changed for me, for the other candidates and certainly for many other young people! What Stefan has done with this show for Germany, is great, suddenly more young people are interested in this really important international music event.

BYM.de: Above all, Raab made a casting show out of it, and they're not really your thing otherwise. You once said that 'Deutschland sucht den Superstar' would disturb you, that the private of the candidates is in the foreground. Why did you think "Our star for Oslo" would be different?

Lena Meyer-Landrut: During the casting shows, which Stefan presented in front of "USFO", the music was always in the foreground for me, and that convinced me that it will be this time again.

On the next page: Why Lena saw herself as the right person for Oslo?

BYM.de: How many people have told you that you are going there?

Lena Meyer-Landrut: Almost no one, I was convinced that I could not get any further and did not want to do the comforting pat on the back and listen to the "but you're still great" when they watch the show and I'm not there at all.

BYM.de: You almost feel like you're just surprised where you stumbled into it. What is it about: having fun with the whole thing or actually making the leap into a career as a musician?

Lena Meyer-Landrut: Both! But fun and contentment is the most important thing, because only then can you do a thing really well. And all the new impressions, people and experiences that I take with me from this time have all paid off the stress I got from it all! Music gives me so much joy that it would be great if you could finance your life with it!

BYM.de: Why are you the right choice for Oslo?

Lena Meyer-Landrut: Because of the fun on the Freud! I am cheerful and in need of harmony, I want to pass that on and best spread it.
