Sweet scrub

Gentle peels with salt and sugar smooth the skin

Our skin currently leads a shadowy existence under thick wool sweaters and tweed trousers, reacting slightly irritated. And the change between overheated rooms and cool outdoor climate absorbs moisture and dries up.

Not bad so, first to worry about rough problem areas: skin flakes on arms and legs are gently solved with a scrub. For example with mild shower scrubs that contain brown sugar and smell of citrus and spices (eg "Sweet Sensation" by Rituals, "Crystal Glow Sugar Rub" by Estée Lauder, "Sweet Sugar Body Scrub" by Rubinstein). Alternative: coarse salt from the Dead Sea or mud, enriched with essential oils such as grapefruit or ginger (eg "Origins Salt Rub", "Sea Mud Scrub" by Erno Laszlo). Salt and sugar smooth out well and bring plenty of moisture back into the skin. Those who are very sensitive, should rather take a scrub without fragrance (eg from RoC). Or use a silk glove (from the health food store). In contrast, a robust skin can tolerate a peeling massage with a loofah or sisal glove, which boosts the blood circulation. Always start with the feet and then massage in circular movements towards the heart. Then shower as usual or get into the tub.

Refreshing bath

Even the gods loved verbena (verbena, french verveine) - it was the Roman word for altar plants to purify the spirit. Today, its citrus-like aroma in the bathtub ensures a pleasant freshness. In addition, vervain should strengthen the circulation. You can buy it in the purse ("Soothing Bath Infusions Verbena" by L'Occitane) - or just put a handful of dried verbena (from the pharmacy), basil leaves and sea salt in a tissue, knot it and hang it in the incoming bath water. Alternative: finished shower or bath oils with rose, lavender or vanilla, which strengthen, relax or harmonize (eg from Claire Fisher, Weleda, pharmacist). On thick foam mountains and very hot bath water you should rather do without - both dries up damaged skin additionally.

Natural oil massage

Fragrance oil for all senses

After bath or shower, a fragrant body oil is best absorbed by the still moist skin. The own fats are degraded by the warm water. Jojoba, sea buckthorn or almond oil have to be massaged in a bit more vigorously, but they will give the body a strong nurturing boost (eg "sea buckthorn oil" from Weleda, "Beautifying Composition" from Aveda). Sensuality is when you pamper your skin with delicate rose scent - which has a calming and balancing effect (eg "Rose oil" by Claire Fisher, "Rose balm" by Dr. Hauschka). Or you wrap yourself in a fine, aromatic spray of so-called dry oils, which move in very quickly (for example, "Huile Sèche Adoucissant" by Décleor, "Huile Sèche Relaxante" by Payot).
