Police reveal: THIS secret code protects us from cell phone theft!

For many of us, the smartphone is now much more than just a portable communication device - it offers everyone who gets their hands on a deep insight into our private lives.

Intimate conversations, embarrassing photos and questionable music tastes do not want to be shared with strangers. A theft, no matter the yield, is always an invasion of privacy. But just where spicy information lurking on our cell phones, this border crossing hurt especially.

This code protects your data

As soon as you have entered the code published by the Munich police in your mobile phone, a 15-digit number appears. This so-called IMEI number (International Mobile Station Equipment Identity) is a kind of fingerprint of your mobile phone and is unique in the world.
This serial number makes it possible to identify your device in case of theft.

Is it possible to locate the mobile phone using the IMEI number? Theoretically yes, but that will not happen. For this, the police would need a judicial decision - but there is only if there is a serious crime - and this does not include theft of mobile phones.

So you protect yourself from pickpockets:

  • Keep yours closed Handbag always in view
  • DO NOT stow important things in your outer jacket pockets
  • Leave valuables that you do not necessarily need (such as credit or savings cards) at home
  • Stowed with a stay in a larger crowd (concerts, flea markets) the most important things directly on the body
