Oscars 2019: "Werk ohne Autor" has the chance of two golden boys

German participation in the Oscars 2019! The German film "Werk ohne Autor" by director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (45, "The Lives of Others") has scooped a nomination in the categories "Best Foreign Language Film" and "Best Camera". But the competition is great!

These are the competitors

In addition to "Work without an author", the Golden Globe winner "Roma" from Mexico has been nominated by director Alfonso Cuarón (57) as the "Best Foreign Language Film". The strip is considered a big favorite. The other nominees are "Capernaum - City of Hope" from Lebanon, "Cold War - The Latitude of Love" from Poland and "Shoplifters - Family Gang" from Japan.

The second nomination in the category "Best Camera" can certainly be regarded as a surprise. "Untitled" competes with "Cold War - The Latitude of Love", "The Favorite - Intrigue and Insanity", "Roma" and "A Star Is Born" for the coveted trophy.

For Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck it is the second chance for one of the coveted golden boys. In 2007, his film "The Lives of Others" won in the category "Best Foreign Language Film".
