Natalie Joos: "There are too many unnecessary clothes"

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde: Introducing inspiring people and their own style on your Tales of Endearment blog. Where do you find these people?

Natalie Joos: That's very different. The important thing is that they love vintage fashion, that's what my blog is about. I've been working as a casting agent for quite some time, because you develop a view for special people. This may be a 55-year-old who loves to wear funny dotted skirts, or an 18-year-old with beautiful hair tailoring her own clothes.

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde: You also often wear great vintage pieces. Are you telling us about your shopping tricks?

Natalie Joos: The first rule is never to go too far with ideas. Anyone who decides to find a blue skirt with an orange flower on it can only be disappointed. Be inspired by the garments, be patient, keep your eyes open. And if your dream part is not sitting properly, just take it to a tailor and let it adjust.

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde: They criticize the trend to fast fashion, so constantly new collections at low prices. Why does that annoy you?

Natalie Joos: There are far too many unnecessary clothes that are so bad in quality that people throw them away after only one season. When you think about how stressful it is for the environment to make all those clothes - that's a waste!

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde: How do you personally handle it?

Natalie Joos: I buy less, but the quality has to be right. I also wear a lot of vintage, that's like recycling. Best of all, you have something unique that nobody else has? and cheap it is usually still.

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde: How would you describe your style?

Natalie Joos: Colorful and feminine. Mostly, my outfits are about a part that I like especially: a dress, a pair of pants, a blouse. It then develops a look. I play with different characters.

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde: That almost sounds like you're dressing up every time.

Natalie Joos: No, that's always me. But I like to show the different facets, from sexy to boyish. I do not think you can see a consistent style when you look at my outfits. Colors, structures and patterns are important to me, otherwise I am versatile. Only things must be pretty.

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde: "I am too old for this trend"? do you know this thought?

Natalie Joos: Taste changes over time, as does the character. But honestly, that's more of an advantage. Meanwhile, I can wear more mature looks without feeling disguised. And as far as the trends are concerned, this always has to do with self-confidence. Maybe you think you are too old for a bright red dress. But how do you feel about it? Do you look great in it? Then you should definitely wear it, it will do you good!

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde: You are traveling a lot for work. Where are you traveling to relax?

Natalie Joos: My favorite way to travel is to places I do not know yet. Last time were St. Barths and Cuba, both of which I liked. I do not know where it will be soon. Maybe South Africa or Madagascar.

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde: Anyone who is constantly on the move must also pack constantly. Do you have any tips?

Natalie Joos: I'm planning exactly what I'll wear when and packing by the day? This is especially true for the Fashion Weeks. In addition, I make sure to pack only parts that can be combined. That's how I stay flexible. My insider tip are shoes that go with everything. I have some high black sandals that I can wear to everything. For this I take socks in many different colors. Believe me, no one notices that I wear the same shoes every day.

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde: For Kipling you have designed colorful luggage. What was important to you, apart from the colors?

Natalie Joos: I wanted something original that is not supertrendy. That's why I opted for color blocking. This is also very convenient because you immediately recognize your suitcase on the luggage belt. I have problems with my back, so I have made sure that the suitcases are light and can roll well. And the distribution is important, after all, I want to be able to quickly and easily remove and pack my laptop and camera at the security check.

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde: Have you tried the suitcases and trolleys yourself?

Natalie Joos: Oh yes, they were already on their way: First in Mexico City, then on a ten-day road trip through Cuba. They went through everything, although they do not handle their luggage with care.
