Mr. Robot: Hackers series now officially ends after season four

Lead actor Christian Slater (49) recently hinted in an interview, but now it's certain: The popular hacker series "Mr. Robot" will end after the fourth season. This has the station "USA Network" compared to the industry journal "The Hollywood Reporter" now confirmed.

The fourth season of the series with Rami Malek (37, "Papillon") was already commissioned in December 2017. But it will take until 2019 to wait. According to one source, the reason seems to be that instead of the ordered eight episodes, now twelve are produced. So serial creator Sam Esmail (40) should get the opportunity to bring "Mr. Robot" to a reasonable conclusion.

"Niche TV with a small fan base"

In a statement to "The Hollywood Reporter," Esmail looks back at the beginning of the series and thanks the entire cast and crew: "When I created 'Mr. Robot,' I thought it would be a series for niche TV with one small fan base, "said Esmail. However, much more has come of it over the last few years and he "permanently feels humility in the face of the series' success and thanks to the great cast and crew" who helped bring his vision to life.

For the last season, Esmail also says, "Since the first day I've been working towards a degree, and this is, so I have decided with the coming season of 'Mr. Robot' finally come," said the 40-year-old. One does not want to extend the journey of the main character Elliot Alderson (Malik) beyond its unavoidable end. For this, the "creative team have too much respect".
