Meeting of the rap girls

Hip Hop is just for Machos with thick gold chains? That used to be. The ladies are fed up with bikini dances and background vocals - they prefer to do their own thing. In the US, female rapists like Missy Elliott or Eve have long been superstar status, and in Germany, too, the rhyme artists are on the rise. To make the female rap even better known, the first women's hip-hop festival "We B * Girlz" starts this week in Berlin. For four weeks, women from all over the world will share their passion for MCing, DJing, Breakdance, Grafitti, Beatbox etc.

We'll tune you in for the hip-hop party and give you some on the next few pages German rap protagonists.

"Hey, sometimes I wake up and watch my life go by. Maybe I've already achieved something, but I can not say it's enough for me. I do not want to understand anymore, I do not want to be allowed to do so much anymore. See me and die a die, who wants to kiss my tears?

I pretend that I do not care, lie to myself and say: It's just fun. Now that I'm here, I'm not asking what I'm allowed to do. So do not get in my way, otherwise I'll say goodbye and that's it. "

"I start to realizeWhat is certain and what is shaky. Inside, I have to know what my intention is. Look at the past, with my dachshund look. Make self-talk and speak Tacheles, I take the step into the unknown and did not bend me. I like the hard core because it's the most real. Hardcore, the shell is shit, outfit and image my capital is verbal. I look around, put myself in my audience, that the devil is there, damn, I already knew that. (...)

Head up, chest out, stomach in'In this game you have to be a strong woman. Your dreams are the basic building block, so head up, chest out and stomach in. "

Excerpt from "Kopf hoch" by TemmyTon, released on her debut album "Komma aufn Punkt" (Schmuf Hamburg)

On the next page: Sookee, the germanist

Sookee

Sookee, 25, has been on stage as MC and Slampoetin for six years, studying gender studies and German studies, first album released in 2006.

"Many people always just want to be right, while they empty their words to speech bubbles. What does "I love you" mean today? Just so that the body gets a bit of love? What? Surely not many people share this view, because most do not love the language, do not appreciate it - often hardly perceive it. Who does not respect language, always has the disadvantage.

I long for moments of fullness In everyday life, unfortunately, you only come across words. No matter what I intend to do in my life, in any case I fight for language and vocabulary - word! "

Excerpt from "Sayings" by Sookee appeared on the album "Kopf Herz Arsch" (Jubeko)

I am always there for you, lean on you. Are you just not clear, call me. It's also in the middle of the night, I'll go. My sister, tell me what I can do. "

You taught me to go where the soul leads me, free like a gypsy on a trip. See you, picked out the good ones. And I was like a nerd and I took tons. Now I know where the road leads me, But I do not feel free that you track me. And I know you've been through my diary, it's okay, but you just told me. "

My parents were divorced when I was just seven. Courts ham decided that two children stayed with the mother.

So we were three of us, moved out of the big house on Sylt, but the small apartment was right for me, because no father roared more. So I missed the sea very much. It was very hard for me to get used to the city.

I became a keychildThese are the children, where the parents are not at home, the mother is not standing by the window waving, for she went to the service day by day. It certainly was not easy for her to explain that she still likes us. "
