Make jeans with frayed hem on your own

They are currently on sale at Zara and H & M, but they also have a lot of money on labels like Currentt / Elliott or Stella McCartney: "Frayed Jeans", pants with a frayed hem. Instead of neatly stitched, you wear jeans now fringy and preferably ankle length. A great look for the summer, even DIY bottles can easily do it yourself - without sewing and with little effort.

That's what you need:

  • an (old) jeans
  • a scissors
  • a pair of tweezers
  • a foot file (does not have to be)

Step 1: Cut off

Shorten the pants to the desired length. It is particularly easy to cut the fabric directly above the sewn hem, then the cut is also beautiful straight.

Step 2: plucking

Grab the tweezers and pluck the long white threads out of the denim fabric. The more you pluck, the fuzzier the result becomes. Tip: It works especially well if you turn the trouser leg outwards - then the white threads are easier to recognize.

Step 3: The finish

If you are satisfied with the length of the fringe, cut the white threads that you have plucked out with scissors. Should you have a foot file, you can still work on the hem to reinforce the fringed used look.

Finished!

That's it! Finished is the hip "Frayed Jeans", for which you did not have to pay extra for one cent. The pants look even better when you put them in the washing machine after the DIY treatment. The laundry reinforces the frayed look. Maybe after washing some white threads are hanging out of the hem again - but you can just cut them off.

And then you can combine your new favorite jeans happy: casual with sneakers and T-shirt, summer with flat sandals and an off-shoulder top, to celebrate with high-heels, top and leather jacket. Have fun!
