Make bag from canvas itself

What you need for a bag:

  • 1 oil painting, here 56 x 88 cm
  • 1 old belt, about 116 cm
  • Lining, 70 x 50 cm
  • embroidery needle
  • embroidery thread
  • Leather punch

That's how it's done:

Release oil image from the frame. Determine the width and height of the bag. Our bag is 35 cm wide and 47 cm high plus 1.5 cm seam allowance each. Place the seam allowance in the back center of the bag and put it together right to right. Manually close the seam in cross-stitch with embroidery thread. Sew the lining material, which should be 3 cm shorter than the bag, to the tube and stitch right to right at the upper edge of the bag. Halve the belt and punch holes in the ends at a distance of 2 and 5 cm. Sew the belt handles with coarse yarn, 5 cm to the right and 5 cm to the left, to the bag. Close the feed tube and pull it into the bag. Put the lower seam allowance of the picture pocket inwards and stitch it twice from the outside.
