Knitting sweater with round neck - a guide
Instructions for a sweater with a round neck
Material: 150/175/175 g rose color 0019 "Alpaka Superlight" (54% alpaca, 24% polymid, 22% wool, length 199 m / 25 g) by Lang Yarns. Knitting needles Nos. 5, 6 and 9 (if you are loosely knitting) or 6, 7 and 10 (if you knit tightly - it is important that you get the information in the stitching).
Note: It is possible that the given wool can not be bought anymore. In this case, you are looking for a similar quality. Pay attention to the specified run length and make a stitch test!
THE SWEATER IS KNITTED WITH DOUBLE THREAD
Bundmuster (BM) with thin needle: 1st round: 2 sts left, 2 sts to the right. 2nd R: Knit the sts as they appear. Always repeat the 2nd R
Smooth left (GL) with medium and thick needle: 1. R (front): Left M with medium needle. 2. R (back): Right M with thick needle. Always repeat the 1st and 2nd Rs.
Tip: If you have knitting needles to screw together (available from Knit Pro) then you can combine a medium and a thick needle for the pattern.
Mesh test (GL): 12 M x 15 R = 10 x 10 cm.
Kraus right (KR) with thin needle: 1st round: left M. 2nd round: right M. Repeat the 1st and 2nd round once more.
Back: Cast on 62/68/74 sts with a thin needle and knit 5 cm in BM. Continue with medium and thick needle in GL knit. 34/33/32 cm from BM on both sides mark the beginning of the armholes. 17/18/19 cm from the beginning of the armholes for the shoulder bevel on both sides in every 2nd row. Size S: 6x2 + 1x3 / size M: 3x2 + 4x3 / size L: bind off 7x3 sts. Then bind off the remaining 32 sts for the neckline.
Front: While knitting the back piece, bind off the middle 14 sts for the neckline at the same time as the beginning of the shoulder taper and finish both sides separately, while doing so at each side of the neck cast off once every 2x R 1x3, 2x2 + 2x1 sts.
Sleeve: Cast on 26/28/30 sts each with a thin needle and knit 7 cm in BM. Continue to knit with middle and thick needle in the GL, while doing so, inc 1 st on each side in every 6 rows = 8x1 = 42/44/46 sts. Cast off 34 cm from BM all sts.
elaboration: Close the shoulder seams and pick up 95 sts at the neckline with a thin needle and knit 4 rounds in the KR, then bind off all sts loosely. Close the side seams. Close the sleeve seams and sew in the sleeves.
