Karin asks: "I want to do something with children, is that a career changer?

"Actually, I know exactly what I want, and I just want to find out if that, in your opinion, is wise too.

I have three children and I never knew how exhilarating it would be to slip on my knees all day and read "Bob the Builder". I also love to sing with my children because it can not be too rough.

Now I've considered that I would like to run a daycare. I also dare to do that. I studied Business Administration, and before I went into Occupational Health Management, I worked in Complaint Management. That was too rude for me, in every way.

I would like to know from you: Do you always advise to jump into a children's business? "

Karin from Kiel

Dear Karin,

"Complaint management, business administration," Bob the Builder "- if you had also studied biology (lice) and nutritional advice (How to make spinach in Kindermünder?) You would be perfect, but joking aside.

Many mothers would like to do something with children, because after a few years of education, they simply know how the rabbit runs.

You should nevertheless consider these four things:

  • The formal requirements are high and consistently professional. If you want to look after other children, you need a lot from an extended certificate of good conduct to a sound education to prove that you are responsible enough.
  • Often one may read "Bob the Builder" to one's own children, but strangers are sometimes annoying. Consider: Do you sometimes bother strangers who have been educated differently? Did you enjoy playing with other kids in the past?
  • In a kindergarten, you do not only have to deal with children, but also with parents (? Are the rice pudding also in vegan?), Employees (? I am sick?), Authorities (? Rotavirus Quarantine?) And local residents ( Do they have to dig in the sand that loud?). Can you do that?
  • They will grow out of this guild someday. At the latest, if your own children? Chill your base? you will feel like you are staying permanently.

What is your wish? To the pragmatic? "My children have to go to a kindergarten anyway, then they can go straight into my own." To the hat you have on there (So you would not feel so well as a childminder?)? To work with unfinished? To keep that many balls in the air? To the music?

Then you might as well consider whether perhaps another education with music would be something for you. For example, you might want to train as a Singhal to later work in hospitals or health centers.

If you are behind all these questions but always just a defiant one? But I want to be with children !? put ? then try it out. Placements offer many kindergartens and this is the quickest way to find out if foreign children are sunshine or brats.

I wish you Rolf Zuchowski nerves and a fat child surprise!
